[ENG] The portable steam engines were a transportable power unit, containing: a steam boiler, a steam engine and a transmission device (e.g. a pulley), structurally similar to a small steam locomotive, but without its own drive. As the design developed, adjectives were added to specify it, but it was always a power unit constituting a compact whole, as opposed to an engine room with a separate boiler and engine.
Widely used in the 19th and early 20th centuries to drive: small plants, agricultural machinery in farms, pumps, etc. Replaced by internal combustion and electric engines. Often, they additionally supplied exhaust steam for heating and hot water, and later equipped with a generator, they were a local power plant.
That portable engine was built in Mannheim, Germany in the factory Heinrich Lanz Maschinenfabrik. It's the part of open-air museum of applied technology placed near the Rozen restaurant in Stopka. There are much more agriculture machines nearby.

[POL] Lokomobile byly przenosna jednostka napedowa, zawierajaca: kociol parowy, maszyne parowa i urzadzenie transmisyjne (np. kolo pasowe), konstrukcyjnie podobna do malej lokomotywy parowej, ale bez wlasnego napedu. W miare rozwoju projektu dodawano przymiotniki, ale zawsze byla to jednostka napedowa stanowiaca zwarta calosc, w przeciwienstwie do maszynowni z oddzielnym kotlem i silnikiem.
Lokomobile byly szeroko stosowane w XIX i na poczatku XX wieku do napedzania: malych zakladów, maszyn rolniczych w gospodarstwach rolnych, pomp itp. Zastapione silnikami spalinowymi i elektrycznymi. Czesto dodatkowo dostarczaly pare wylotowa do ogrzewania i cieplej wody, a pózniej wyposazone w generator byly lokalna elektrownia.
Ta lokomobila zostala zbudowana w Mannheim w Niemczech w fabryce Heinrich Lanz Maschinenfabrik. Znajduje sie w skansenie techniki uzytkowej, który znajdujace sie przy restauracji Rozen w Stopce. W poblizu znajduje sie masa innych starych maszyn rolniczych.
