Jens Høyer Hansen (14 July 1940 – 10 August 1999) was a Danish-born jeweller who settled in New Zealand and did most of his well-known work in Nelson, New Zealand.

Jens Hansen founded this workshop in 1973. In 1999, he created the One Ring for Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy. Jens's eldest son, Halfdan Hansen, now runs the Jens Hansen Workshop, known as the oldest and only internationally recognized artisanal jewelry workshop in Nelson.

The Blue Plaque reads: "Jens Hansen established this studio in 1973. In 1999 Jens created the One Ring for the movie trilogy "The Lord Of The Rings"
