The printed map of 'Kaitoke Hill and Pakuratahi Forest' shows 'You are here' beside Kaitoke Loop Road at the start of the Kaitoke Hill Track (KHT), just before it goes under State Highway #2 with an underpass. KHT starts off almost wheelchair friendly, apart from being a bit steep. But the other side of the highway it splits onto Pedestrian, Mountain Bike, or Horse ridable clay trails; and being wet while I was there, very slippery.
Various colours of the terrain shading shows: Native Forest, Plantation Forest, and Grassland. The Key/Legend has icons for the following: the Rimutaka Cycle Trail, Locked Gates, Information signs - like this one, Parking, Toilets, Swimming, Picnic Tables, Lookouts, Dog Walking area, Horse Riding trails, Walking Trails, Short Walk and Easy Tramping trails. This area is not too far from Rivendell, where a large portion of The Lord of the Rings trilogy was filmed.
