Granary Wharf is at the Junction of the river Aire and the Leeds Liverpool Canal. In the past this was a busy site with canal boats loading and unloading goods, including of course grain.
The two waterways provided Leeds with links to the west and east coasts of England.
These days it is mainly leisure boats that use the waterways and there are moorings close to here.
This site is also close to Leeds Railway Station and the ferry provides a convenient link along the river Aire to the Royal Armouries Museum, and bars and restaurants.
The river is flanked by many tall buildings, many of which were originally warehouses linked to the dock area and the short ferry trip gives a view of Leeds that cannot be seen easily in any other way.
There are two boats that run every 15 minutes from each location and the journey takes approximately 10 minutes.
