This monument stands next to the Independence Museum. It shows as a relief art sculpture, two hanged persons observed by two armed men. Then, on the top, a statue of a couple in a victorious pose with broken chains still attached to their wrists.

There is a single inscription, "Their Blood Waters Our Freedom". The scope of the monument is somehow vague. One would conclude that its dedicated to all the fallen during the several wars against foreign occupation during the road to independence of Namibia.

However, there is a plaque mentioning that the monument to the killings at German hands which took place in the early 20th Century during the uprising of the Herera people.

It's odd as the phrase seems to be inspired in a book named "Their blood waters our freedom : glory to the heroes and heroines of the Namibian liberation struggle", published prior to the creation of the monument.

The book was published in 1996 and the monument erected, most likely, in 2014, as it shares location and general style with the nearby museum which was inaugurated in that year.
