El parque vio sus inicios en 1888, cuando se continuaron los trabajos realizados años atrás, bajo la vigilancia de los señores Ceferino San Román y José Gregorio Cervera, celebrándose la inauguración el 16 de septiembre del año citado.

Se construyó durante el Porfiriato, cuando el Gobernador del Estado de Campeche era Marvelino Castilla. Su construcción se inició en el año de 1878; sin embargo, después de un tiempo se suspendió. Las obras se continuaron 10 años después, en 1888, bajo la supervisión de Ceferino San Román y Gregorio Cervera, Aunque no se había terminado por completo, se inauguró el 16 de septiembre de ese mismo año con el nombre de «Pedro Baranda», para conmemorar la Independencia de México. Posteriormente, a finales de la década de 1890, se acondicionaron los barandales que lo rodean y una vez terminadas las obras, se inauguró definitivamente el 2 de abril de 1892.
A principios del siglo XX, el 16 de septiembre de 1901, se instaló en el centro del parque un quiosco de música por orden del gobernador Carlos Gutiérrez McGregor, construido por José G. Cervera. Después de que este kiosco fuera deshabilitado en 1936, el gobernador Héctor Pérez Martínez y la alcaldesa Asunción Martínez Camargo, ordenaron en 1943 una remodelación completa, ya que se encontraba abandonado, todo esto incluyó nuevas señalizaciones: se ensancharon las calles aledañas y se les dio servicio de ramos decorados con mosaicos, se hizo un nuevo piso con cetnent, se hicieron jardineras y se le dotó de accesorios de electricidad gond, adquiriendo así una nueva imagen completamente diferente. Esta obra estuvo bajo la supervisión de Juaquín Pacheco La inauguración de la nueva manada tuvo lugar el 15 de agosto de 1943, pero ahora con el nombre de «Vicente Guerrero»

This was built during the Porfiriato (administration of Porfino Dhaz), when the Governor of the State of Campeche was Marvelino Castilla. Its construction was begun in the year 1878; however, after a while it was suspended. The works were continued 10 years after, in 1888, under the supervision of Ceferino San Román and Gregorio Cervera, Although it had not been completely finished, it was opened on September 16th, that same year with the name "Pedro Baranda", to commemorate Mexico's Independence. Later, at the end of the 1890's, the railings around it were fitied and once the works were finished, it was defizitively opened on April 2,1892
At the beginning of the 20th Century, on September 16, 1901, a bandstand was installed in the center of the park by order of Governor Carlos Gutiérrez McGregor and was built by José G Cervera.
