This 'You Are Here' can be found on a sign at the car parking area to the east of Loudoun Hill in the rural eastern part of Ayrshire. The car park can be reached from a narrow minor road heading north from the A71.
Loudoun Hill is a volcanic plug of metamorphic rock rising out of the Ayrshire countryside just east of the town of Darvel. It can be reached most quickly from this spot, and the map shows the route up, as well as showing the route to the Spirit of Scotland sculpture on the flank of the hill.
On the left hand side of the sign is another larger map covering trails around the Irvine Valley around the towns of Galston, Newmains, and Darvel. These are marked by numbers:
Grougar Walk
Armsheugh Woodland
Sir Chris Hoy Cycleway
Strath Path
Cessnock Woods
Burn Anne Walk
Big Wood (Bluebell Planting)
Dyke Walk
The Five Mile
Darvel to Priestland 'Up the Bankers'
The Weavers Trail
Up the line to Loudoun Hill
Quiet Road to Strathaven
Long Cairn Walk
