Jemaa el-Fnaa remains the main square in Marrakech, frequented by locals and tourists alike. During the day, it is mainly occupied by orange juice stands, young people with chained Barbary apes, water sellers in colorful costumes with traditional leather water bags and brass cups, and snake charmers posing for tourists' photographers.
In 2008, the square was inscribed on UNESCO's List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
