[ENG] On the main square of Suwalki there is a theatre. Above the scene there is a Coat of Arms of the city. What is it symbolised?
Suwalki has been founded in 17th century by Camaldoleses from abbey in Wigry and they where the first Suwalki's owners. So.. the cross with three peaks and the crown is one symbol of Camaldoleses - Monte Corona. The momk on the right is st. Romuald that founded the order. The man on the left is st. Roch, symbol of protectiveness and protects against plagues. The dog and its legs symbolize faith, loyalty and obedience.
The first image of the seal is from the 18th century when king August II gave to Suwalki the city rights.

Suwalki zostaly zalozone w XVII wieku przez Kamedulów z Wigier. Byli oni takze pierwszymi wlascicielami miasta. I krzyz na potrójnym pagórku z korona to jeden z symboli tego zakonu - Monte Corona. Mnich po prawej to sw. Romuald, zalozyciel zakonu. Natomiast mezczyzna po lewej stronie to sw. Roch, który jest symbolem opiekunczosci i ochrania przed zarazami. Pies u jego nóg symbolizuje wiare, wiernosc i posluszenstwo.
Pierwszy wizerunek pieczeci z takim herbem pochodzi z XVIII wieku, kiedy to król August II nadal miastu prawa miejskie.
