These two quotes from the Gospel of Saint Matthew are located on the outside of Saint Leo Magnus Roman Catholic Church on Depot Street in the town of Ridgway, Pennsylvania. Both quotes are etched into plaques on the south side of the church building, near a large cross and statue of Jesus Christ.

The first quote is from the eleventh chapter of the Gospel of Saint Matthew, verse 28, and says, "Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest."

The second quote is from the sixteenth chapter of the Gospel of Saint Matthew, verse 24, and says, "Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me."

Both of these quotes refer the life of a Christian who follows Jesus Christ. In one sense it is a difficult life because we are called to take up our crosses and follow Christ, who suffered and died. But, we have hope because in the end Christ will give us eternal rest in heaven.
