Chesapeake & Ohio Railway caboose (C&O 903181) in Manchester, Tennessee (Coffee County). This caboose used to be in front of the Arrowheads to Aerospace Museum in Manchester. It was purchased in 2021 by the Pope family and moved to their property. It sits in a grassy lot beside a quiet stream.
This is an extended (wide) vision steel caboose. The outside was painted blue by the museum, otherwise the exterior has not been noticeably modified since its railroad days. The inside of the caboose still retains many of its original furnishings and fixtures. The caboose number “3181” is still visible in the cupola. The caboose has been equipped with city electricity (no plumbing) and refitted to allow overnight “camping”.
This is a privately owned caboose on privately owned land, even though the grassy lot appears to be a public space. Visitors should obtain permission before approaching the caboose.
Current Use: Novelty display
 Type Of Caboose: Extended Vision
