Anyone visiting Sossuvlei and its famous Deadvlei will have to pass in Sesriem. But those actually staying in the campsite will have a decisive advantage: for campers staying here the access gates to the 50 km long road to Sossuvlei open 30 minutes before the general public is allowed passage. And they remain open for an extra 30 min after the closing time. And this is paramount for visiting the place where light is everything, being sunrise and sunset the most spectacular times to be there.
The campsite itself is quite pleasant. There is a nice cafe and restaurant, plenty of space, clean bathrooms, individual poles with power and light for each camping spot. And wildlife. It's the kind of place where you will see oryxed roaming around the campsite which is crazy. And you will notice the warnings about hyenas and coyotes in case you feel an urge to visit the bathroom in the middle of the night.
