Nashville, Chattanooga and St. Louis Railway (NCSTL 10230) caboose in Lebanon, Tennessee (Wilson County). It is proudly displayed in Fiddler’s Grove Historic Village, a quaint township of yesteryear. The caboose is beside a mock depot and not far from the “Train Museum” in the village.
This is a cupola “standard” caboose. It was once a “woodie” meaning the cabin and cupola were built of wood (not steel), which was typical of early cabooses. Most woodies were covered with a steel skin for additional strength either right before or soon after World War II. The wood of NCSTL 10330 is still visible inside the cabin. An information marker near the caboose tells that this caboose was donated to Fiddler’s Grove in 2007.
The outside of the caboose has not been noticeably modified since its railroad days. The inside of the caboose has been nicely restored and serves as a museum to the “Golden Age of Railroads”. It has been equipped with city electricity but no plumbing. Visitors are asked to pay a small entrance fee to Fiddler’s Village. The caboose is not open to the public except during tours.
Current Use: Historic display
 Type Of Caboose: Cupola, "Standard"
