This location is easily reached by passenger vehicle when the roads are dry. It's also a great place to camp--there's a wide, flat spot with plenty of room for trailers and/or tents.
The large reddish conglomerate boulder on top is from the Cedar Mountain Formation, and now lies on top of and protects a pillar of less resistant sandstone from the Morrison Formation (likely the Brushy Basin Member).
Less than half a mile east of here is a road that branches to the north and parallels these same formations. You'll undoubtedly find many more such balanced rocks with a little exploring of the area.
