Melvin City Hall is housed in this small metal building in the center of town. While the building was closed at the time of my visit, there was plenty of information posted at the door that is no doubt useful to the citizens here.
The history of Melvin does nto go back very far; the earliest Census data is for 1960, when there were about six hundred inhabitants. The population has decliend steadily since, to the current level of about a hundred and twenty. The Melvin School District was closed in 1971 and consolidated with the Brady Independed School District.
