"The old parish church of Horn is elevated in the southwest beyond the Taffa outside the former city fortifications of the town of Horn in the district of Horn in Lower Austria. History
The parish was founded in the middle of the 11th century by Count Gerold and handed over to the diocese of Passau. The parish passed to the Göttweig Abbey at the beginning of the 12th century and to Count Gebhard von Poigen around 1125. In 1144 a tithe was mentioned in the foundation charter for the Altenburg Abbey and was confirmed in a document in the middle of the 14th century. At the end of the 14th century the parish passed to the Maissauers and later to the Puchheimers with the Horn lordship. In 1620 the parish passed to the Jesuits and in 1689 back to the Altenburg Abbey.

The church building, which is essentially Romanesque, has a Gothic raised baroque nave and a Gothic choir from the 14th century. The interior of the church was restored in 1928. In 1980/1981 the church was restored as a whole, and the remains of the Romanesque choir square and the recessed round apse were excavated.

Architecture
The church stands elevated in a walled cemetery in the middle of a former church settlement. The east-facing entrance was built in 1669.

The Romanesque walls of the nave have been preserved, and some Romanesque architectural elements with wall paintings are visible in the attic. In the southern outer wall made of flat rubble stones with mortar applied to the joints, narrow funnel-shaped round-arch windows from the 12th century have been preserved in the lower zone, as has a round-arched jamb portal from around 1250. The gable roof has the year 1899 in the roof truss and covers the nave with the baroque porch and the northern St. Catherine's Chapel. In the attic, on the former support of the roof truss, there are Gothic pointed arch jambs, which are partly overlapped by the baroque vault. There are segmental arch windows from the first half of the 18th century. The south front has smooth pilaster-like struts. The smooth west front with a round hatch in the gable has a rectangular stone jamb window from the 17th century on the northern extension.

The choir has a raised eaves line with double-stepped buttresses with watermarks and blind tracery in the gable field and two-track, partly bricked-up, pointed-arch windows, and in the south and east a three-track pointed-arch window each with trefoil, trefoil and quatrefoil tracery."

Geschichte
Die Pfarre wurde in der Mitte des 11. Jahrhunderts durch den Grafen Gerold gegründet und dem Bistum Passau übergeben. Die Pfarre ging im Anfang des 12. Jahrhunderts an das Stift Göttweig und um 1125 an den Grafen Gebhard von Poigen. 1144 wurde im Stiftsbrief zum Stift Altenburg ein Zehent genannt und in der Mitte des 14. Jahrhunderts urkundlich bestätigt. Die Pfarre ging im Ende des 14. Jahrhunderts an die Maissauer und später mit der Herrschaft Horn an die Puchheimer. 1620 ging die Pfarre an die Jesuiten und 1689 wieder an das Stift Altenburg.

Der im Kern romanische Kirchenbau hat ein gotisch erhöhtes barockisiertes Langhaus und einen gotischen Chor aus dem 14. Jahrhundert. Die Kirche wurde 1928 innen restauriert. 1980/1981 wurde die Kirche im Gesamten restauriert, hierbei wurden Reste des romanischen Chorquadrates und der eingezogenen Rundapsis ergraben.

Architektur
Die Kirche steht erhöht in einem ummauerten Friedhof mittig in einer ehemaligen Kirchsiedlung. Der ostseitige Aufgang entstand 1669.

Die romanischen Mauern des Langhauses sind erhalten, einige romanischen Architekturteile mit Wandmalereien sind im Dachboden sichtbar. In der südlichen Außenmauer aus flachen Bruchsteinen mit fugenverstrichenem Mörtel sind in der unteren Zone schmale trichterförmige Rundbogenfenster aus dem 12. Jahrhundert erhalten, ebendort ein rundbogiges Gewändeportal um 1250. Das Satteldach nennt im Dachstuhl die Jahresangabe 1899 und deckt das Langhaus mit dem barocken Vorbau und die nördliche Katharinenkapelle ab. Im Dachboden befinden sich am ehemaligen Auflager des Dachstuhles gotische Spitzbogengewände, welche teils vom barocken Gewölbe überschnitten werden. Es gibt Segmentbogenfenster aus der ersten Hälfte des 18. Jahrhunderts. Die Südfront zeigt glatte lisenenartige Streben. Die glatte Westfront mit einer Rundluke im Giebel hat an der nördlichen Erweiterung ein rechteckiges Steingewändefenster aus dem 17. Jahrhundert.

Der Chor hat eine erhöhte Trauflinie mit zweifach abgestuften Strebepfeilern mit Wasserschlag und Blendmaßwerk im Giebelfeld und zweibahnige teils vermauerte Spitzbogenfenster, im Süden und Osten je ein dreibahniges Spitzbogenfenster mit Dreiblatt-, Dreipass- und Vierpassmaßwerk. "

Dans le mur extérieur sud, en pierres de taille plates avec mortier jointé, d'étroites fenêtres cintrées en forme d'entonnoir du XIIe siècle ont été conservées dans la zone inférieure, ainsi qu'un portail de vestibule en plein cintre datant d'environ 1250. Le toit à pignon a l'année 1899 dans la charpente et recouvre la nef avec le porche baroque et la chapelle nord de Sainte-Catherine. Dans l'attique se trouvent des arcs gothiques en ogive sur l'ancien support de la charpente, dont certains sont recouverts par la voûte baroque. Il y a des fenêtres cintrées segmentaires de la première moitié du XVIIIe siècle. La façade sud présente des entretoises lisses en forme de pilastres. La façade ouest lisse avec une trappe ronde dans le pignon présente une fenêtre rectangulaire revêtue de pierre du XVIIe siècle sur l'extension nord.

Le chœur a une ligne d'avant-toit surélevée avec des contreforts à deux niveaux avec des coups de bélier et des entrelacs aveugles dans le champ du pignon et des fenêtres en arc brisé à deux voies, en partie murées, au sud et à l'est, il y a une fenêtre en arc brisé à trois voies avec trèfle. , entrelacs de trèfle et de quadrilobe."
