"Description
The square, which was once called “de la Calç”, is located next to the towers of Quart and bounded by the streets of Quart and Guillem de Castro. It appears described in the second volume of the historical and topographical Valencia (1863) of Vicente Boix with the following words:
Ursula (Santa) (Plaza de). This is the name given to the square that stretches in front of the gate and towers of Cuarte, where the convent of nuns of this title is located. It was called de la Calç, according to the ordinance of July 7, 1589, where, among other things, the following is said: “attes que ab acte rebut per lo escrivá de la sala a 25 de Maig del any 1585, fonch donat lo estatge de una cambreta que está sobre la casa que lo guardiá de la calç de la present ciutat te te en la plaça de la Calç, que está junt al portal de Cuart de dita ciutad, al tenor, etc.” It has already been said elsewhere that the patriarch D. Juan de Ribera installed the Discalced Augustinian nuns in this place in 1605, after the repentant sisters (repenedides) had abandoned the building, whose foundation was due to Sister Juana Sucala, of the order that was of the Carmel, by means of the Bull of Paulo III of 1582."
