In the local garden you can become acquainted with a number of landscape elements that are characteristic of the original South Holland peat meadow area. Due to other agricultural methods, drainage and urbanization, many of these landscape elements, with their characteristic plants and animals, have disappeared. Much of this wealth can be seen again in the native garden!
There is a butterfly garden, herb garden and orchard surrounding the work shed. Bird- and insect-friendly crops and vegetables are grown in the fields. There are old-fashioned, colorful field flowers and regional plants. Next to the herb garden is a Stinzenbos. Next to the herb garden is a Stinzenbos, named after the presence of Stinzen plants, which bloom mainly in the spring.
On the west side of the hayfield you will find three types of willow wood with different willow species, which are pollarded in the winter period. On the east side there is a wood quay that is planted with local trees and shrubs. The south side of the native garden is bordered by large water features and reed land.
The design and careful natural management provide favorable living conditions for various special plants and animals. Such as butterflies, dragonflies and wild bees. You will also see and hear many birds. Fish and amphibians feel at home in the clear water.
