Neighbors Pea Patch is a small community garden located within Neighbors Park. At one point this street corner had the dubious distinction of having the highest crime rate in Tacoma. In a true story of neighborhood spirit, a local homeowner banded the neighborhood kids together, garnered grants and began to create a garden and play area. The park now boasts an incredible play structure, a 1/2 basketball court, the pea patch surrounding the play areas and a small landscaped courtyard. The nearby homes and apartment buildings have been repainted and crime has dropped dramatically. A true success story.
