John Davidson Campbell Sr.
January 2, 1929 - March 16, 2021

"Mr. John Davidson Campbell Sr., of Wright City, MO, went to be with his Lord and Savior early on Tuesday, March 16, 2021. He was born on January 2, 1929 in Highland Springs, VA, to the late William and Ethel (nee: Barden) Campbell. He was one of 10 children. John had reached the age of 92 years, 2 months and 14 days.

"John was united in marriage to Betty H Haddad. John was involved with the Mason and Shriners for over 34 years. He was a member of the Highlanders Branch of Shriners, where he was in the band. He played the drums and also drove the clown car in the parades. John, being from a large family, began working at a young age at the Dee and Bee Grocery while still in high school. He worked his way into management and then later purchased the store. He later opened a 2nd store, John's Market in Fairfield, VA. He was also the manager of the largest Piggly Wiggly Grocery store in Lynchburg, VA. Then John began a career designing cabinets. He worked for Connor Cabinets and he even designed cabinets for Reggie Jackson. John loved the arts. He sang and danced in a musical call "Bells are Ringing". He was an excellent piano player and never took a lesson. He wrote many poems and also had a book published called Mama's Apron. He was a Jack of all Trades and enjoyed woodworking, especially birdhouses.

"John Campbell was preceded in death by his wife, Betty H Haddad; parents, William and Ethel; one child, John Davidson Campbell Jr. (Jack); one grandson, Tyler Romaker; eight siblings, Margaret Gordon, Julia Frank, Ann Snell, Robert Campbell, William Campbell, Andrew Campbell, Richard Campbell and Frederick Campbell. Those who are grateful for sharing in the life of John D Campbell are his children, Robert W. Campbell and wife Sharon, Michael Campbell and (Doc Winston), Andrea Romaker and husband Roger, Julie Scott and husband Kevin; 11 grandchildren, Ian Campbell and wife Catherine, Hilarie Jerauld and husband Adomis, Casey Campbell and wife April, Toni Wright and husband Jimmy, Kelly Metz and husband Dustin, Jacob Campbell and wife Natasha, Logan Campbell, Ryan Romaker, Hannah Romaker and fiancé Alex, Kirk Stafford and wife Lisa, Kaleigh Patton and fiancé Chris; several great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Florence Bernstein; many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly; dear friend, Carol Crites; other relatives and many friends." ~ Martin Funeral Home
