This former school is built in the standard design of the early 1900s, based upon Pennsylvania State patterns for country schools. The design was intended for local municipalities to be able to construct the schoolhouses affordably as the design was standardized and did not require the costs of individual design of each school. There were slightly changes from the "State" design, but they were minor.

When operating, this was a one room school house, with original classes held in Pennsylvania Dutch (a dialect of German that was present in the German settled areas of southeastern Pennsylvania). After 1911, instruction was converted entirely to English. The original construction is brick.

Keck's School is now part of Bethesda Church. The window up top has been bricked over, but the chimney and other details remain visible.
