A stationary L&N caboose in Cannondale area of Chattanooga, Tennessee (Hamilton County). It is set on tracks and is immediately adjacent to a liquor store owned by the caboose owner.

The blueprint for this caboose was inside the caboose (see photo). It was built in 1916 by Nashville Chattanooga and St. Louis Railway (NC&StL) in their West Nashville shop for Louisville & Nashville Railway. It was to be numbered L&N 305 to 318. A car number could not be found in or under this caboose.

This is a standard “cupola” wood and steel caboose. The cabin and cupola are wood with a tin roof. The underside is steel and steel girders support the cabin walls, hopefully, to lessen the damage during a rear end collision.

The caboose has been slightly modified since its railroad days with the addition of city electricity (no AC or plumbing). The outside is in fair to poor condition and the inside, should it be cleaned, is in fair to good condition.
Current Use:
Storage shed

Type Of Caboose: Cupola, "Standard"
