STADHUIS en GEVANGENPOORT aan de Wipstraat. In 1613-'17 gebouwd naar plannen van burgemeester/kistemaker Jacob Gijsberts en uitgevoerd door stadsmetselaar Marten Domenici. Begane gronds waag. Aan de zuidzijde bordes uit 1768, toegang gevend tot de hal met Vierschaar. Restauraties in 1892-'95 en 1956. In de raadzaal gebeeldhouwde consoles onder de balken, portiek door Jacob Gijsberts. Gevangenpoort met ionische pilasters en een aedicula met beeld van de deugd Fortitudo."

CITY HALL and PRISON GATE on Wipstraat. Built in 1613-'17 according to plans by mayor/coffin maker Jacob Gijsberts and executed by city mason Marten Domenici. Ground floor weighing room. On the south side there is a landing from 1768, giving access to the hall with Vierschaar. Restorations in 1892-'95 and 1956. Sculpted consoles under the beams in the council chamber, portico by Jacob Gijsberts. Prison gate with ionic pilasters and an aedicula with an image of the virtue Fortitudo."
