"El BAR SPORTSMAN:
Fue un lugar que quedó en la historia y el recuerdo de los ciudadanos Berissenses,existió en la época del auge de los frigoríficos y de la llegada de barcos llenos de inmigrantes que vaciaban el contenido humano, ávido de trabajo y lleno de ilusiones de hacerse la América.
Estaba ubicado en las calles Río de Janeiro y Montevideo a dos cuadras del frigorífico SWIFT, el lugar era un centro de reunión las 24 horas, en sus mesas convivían los yonis( marineros estadounidenses) y los obreros de distintas nacionalidades.
La característica principal de ese Bar era su palco pequeño pegado al techo donde tocaban las Orquestas de Señoritas y otras.
Este sector del Bar, esta representado con la Orquesta de De Michelis, muy conocida y renombrada por entonces.
El muro donde se representó el mural pertenece a la nieta de uno de los dueños del bar que además pidió se le rindiera homenaje, su abuelo se apellidaba Villardel.
Con la desaparición del lugar a causa de un incendio el 7 de junio de 1970aparentemente intensional, quedaron historias mitos, personajes y leyendas.
Aquí algunas apreciaciones del muralista Cristian Del Vitto al respecto:
" El mural lo realicé sin boceto previo, improvisando en el muro a medida que los vecinos se acercaban y nos contaban su historia."
" Yo dirigía el trabajo y me ayudaban dos compañeras, Cristina Natale y Karina Ankudowicz, equipo que bauticé PESCADORES DE IDENTIDAD."
" Primero conté con la foto del bar, su interior y con el retrato del dueño. Tardamos 4 meses en terminarlo e involucré en el mural distintas técnicas en simultáneo como ser esgrafiado, esmalte sintético , relieve esmaltado, cerámicos incrustados, cartelería en chapa, etc."
" Cuando empezamos a trabajar se acercaban los vecinos y nos contaban anécdotas todas con un aire de melancolía, cada uno guardaba en su corazón un lindo recuerdo del lugar y su gente".
" Ahí fue donde empecé a incorporar los personajes sentados en las mesas, muchos de ellos muy insólitos y de fama internacional."
En el mural aparecen las figuras del célebre Mariscal Tito, que según las crónicas habría vivido en la ciudad de Berisso, fue obrero del Frigorífico y, segun cuentan los vecinos, cuando finalizaba su jornada laboral utilizaba ese tiempo libre para impartir la doctrina comunista a jóvenes obreros. Luego como todos sabemos Tito fue extraditado a Yugoslavia donde se convirtió en el líder maximo del país y el partido Comunista.
Otras de las figuras representadas en el mural es la del célebre Dramaturgo Eugene O´Neil premio Nobel y suegro de Chaplin que segun datos de viejos vecinos habría visitado el Bar.Luego, sentado en una mesa el entrañable TINCHO CARRIQUE, un vendedor de diarios, medio vagabundo, muy apreciado por los vecinos de entonces.Como figura central se encuentra el retrato ya entrado en años de CIPRIANO REYES."
arriba a la izquierda se alza el retrato de uno de los dueños del Bar llamado Vilardel. El día de la inauguración, se consiguieron mesas y sillas de aquella época, un vecino trajo el cubilete y los dados del desaparecido bar y, en la vereda donde se halla la obra se hizo una instalacion de bar donde los vecinos jugaron al truco y tomaron unas copas. Es éste mural quizas el que mas guste a la gente de la ciudad por ser precisamente la obra que reune en su historia a un lugar que caló hondo en la identidad Berissense.(Publicado por Cristian Del Vitto )".

In the mural appear the figures of the famous Marshal Tito, who according to the chronicles would have lived in the city of Berisso, was a meat processing plant worker and, according to neighbors, when he finished his work day he used that free time to teach communist doctrine to young people. workers. Then, as we all know, Tito was extradited to Yugoslavia where he became the maximum leader of the country and the Communist party.
Other figures represented in the mural are the famous Playwright Eugene O'Neil, Nobel Prize winner and Chaplin's father-in-law, who according to information from old neighbors would have visited the Bar. Then, seated at a table, the endearing TINCHO CARRIQUE, a newspaper seller, half a vagabond, highly appreciated by the neighbors of that time. As a central figure is the elderly portrait of CIPRIANO REYES."
At the top left stands the portrait of one of the owners of the Bar called Vilardel. On the day of the inauguration, tables and chairs from that time were obtained, a neighbor brought the cup and dice from the disappeared bar and, on the sidewalk where the work is located, a bar installation was made where the neighbors played tricks and drank a few drinks This mural is perhaps the one that people in the city like the most because it is precisely the work that brings together in its history a place that deeply influenced the Berissense identity.
