The fire brigade station is located in a monumental building on the market. There is a construction of 5 stone arches in front of the property.
On the tapering tower, in three layers, there is a kind of water drop with a sailing ship on top.
"This typical building is located in the heart of Sluis, on the Groote Markt. Many visitors wonder what it is.... On the side of the building it becomes clear that it is the fire station.
The building originally dates from the mid-18th century, but was largely destroyed during the Second World War. During the restoration, the snake tower was built, a design by architect Bedaux. The tower was used for drying fire hoses and climbing exercises."
