"The forest park is made up of two mountains: Mount Alba, also known as Cerro de San Bartolomé, and Mount Cepudo, which together form part of a granite massif divided in two in its highest part.

In the highest part of Mount Alba is the chapel of Our Lady of Alba, dedicated to the Virgin of Alba and Saint Bartholomew, which in the past was part of a medieval castle . And a hermitage with a rectangular plan, in which the coat of arms of the family to which it belonged is still preserved on its façade.

A few meters from this height is the other summit, Mount Cepudo, which reaches a height of 527 m, is the highest of the two and one of the highest points in the entire municipality of Vigo.

The two peaks are also viewpoints , since from them you can see a large part of the city, the Vigo estuary , the Cíes Islands , etc.

Celebrations
Every August 15, a pilgrimage begins on Mount Alba that lasts until September 8.

On August 15, the image of the Virgen del Alba rises from the church of Valladares to the hermitage. Days later, on August 24, San Bartolomé rises, known as the "fear-educer" saint since tradition says that by giving three head bangs on it the fears disappear. Finally, on September 8, the two images are taken down to the parish church. During the ascent and descent, in procession, hundreds of people and several groups of bagpipes accompany the Virgin and Saint Bartholomew.

In 1999, to promote the renewal and recovery of Mount Alba, the Valladares mountain community organized the First International Symposium of Sculptures of Mount Alba; As a result of this event, you can currently visit up to 11 sculptures, some of them are: Itinerary by Ana Olano, Solar Receptacle by Eduardo López, The Pyramid of Time by María Branera, Crossing the Pass by Igor Brown or the Metamorphosis of Remigio Davila. The latter is one of the best known, since it is a sculpture made up of three pieces that transform until they become a musical instrument and the final piece has a hole in the middle in which August 15 can be seen. the evening sun through it."
