This Azimuth Mark is located just north of the southern most of four rim viewpoint at Cove Palisades State Park. This is an NGS Reference Mark disk marked CROOK 1946 AZI 1975 and was set in 1975 to replace the original 1946 Azimuth Mark which is now beneath Lake Billy Chinook behind Round Butte Dam. RECOVERY NOTE BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1976 (CLN) THE STATION MARK, BOTH REFERENCE MARKS, AND THE AZIMUTH MARK WERE RECOVERED IN GOOD CONDITION AS DESCRIBED BY C.L.N. THE TO REACH IS CORRECT, AND ADEQUATE FOR RECOVERY. WHEN THE AZIMUTH MARK WAS ESTABLISHED FOR THIS STATION IT WAS ERRONEOUSLY STAMPED. USING A CHISEL THE 2 WAS REMOVED FROM THE DISK DURING THIS VISIT. THE AZIMUTH MARK IS NOW STAMPED CROOK 1946 AZ 1975. AIRLINE DISTANCE AND DIRECTION FROM NEAREST TOWN 4 MILES NORTHWEST OF CULVER.
