Favrot and Livaudais designed buildings all over Louisiana, including this, the tallest building in New Orleans from 1921 until 1965. The building’s white crown, lit different colors at night, keeps it one of the most prominent buildings the skyline. The bronze doors are richly ornamented.

Hibernia Bank was founded in 1870, and acquired by CapitalOne in 2005. The deal had been negotiated at length, and was set for closing sometime in late September 2005. But then Hurricane Katrina hit. Due to the damage of the hurricane on Hibernia’s assets, the acquisition price was lowered by $0.3 billion.
