Le mont MAGNOUX altitude 504 m est le point culminant du département du Cher et donc de la région Centre. Les communes de Préveranges, St Priest la Marche et St Marien s'y rencontrent, c'est aussi la limite du département du Cher et celui de la Creuse, le département de l'Indre n'est qu'à 2 kilomètres. Sur le versant nord, la source de la rivière l'Indre est à 500 mètres , sur le versant sud la source de la rivière La Joyeuse ( affluent de l'Arnon et donc du Cher ) est également à 300 mètres.
Jusqu'en 1789 les seigneuries de La Pérouse, Châteaumeillant, Préveranges et Boussac se rencontraient au Magnoux . Au 11e siècle celles de Ste Sévère, Châteaumeillant, la Roche-Guillebaud et Boussac."
