El Puente 25 de Abril cuenta con dos alturas, el piso superior para automóviles y el inferior, añadido en 1999, para trenes.
Después de 45 meses de obras, el Puente 25 de Abril fue abierto al tráfico el 6 de agosto de 1966 con el nombre de puente Salazar. Al finalizar la Revolución de los Claveles del 25 de abril de 1974 adquirió su nombre actual.
Por su similitud y por haber sido fabricado por la misma empresa, a menudo se compara al Puente 25 de Abril con el Golden Gate de San Francisco."

The 25 de Abril Bridge has two levels, the upper floor for cars and the lower one, added in 1999, for trains.
After 45 months of works, the 25 de Abril Bridge was opened to traffic on August 6, 1966 with the name Salazar Bridge. At the end of the Carnation Revolution of April 25, 1974, it acquired its current name.
Due to its similarity and because it was manufactured by the same company, the 25 de Abril Bridge is often compared to the Golden Gate in San Francisco."
