This church was built in 1867 for the Presbyterians of Darlington and was named St. George's Church. Following the union of Congregational and Presbyterian Churches in 1972 the church became known as the Northgate United Reformed Church.

In the centre of the main wall of the front of the church are three tall stained glass windows.

At the base of the stone hoodmoulds around the outside of the windows are two small heads and higher up in the space alongside the taller of the windows are two large heads.
