The mural is a visual treat, overlayed with layers of images and symbols relating to the histroy, both natural and political, of New Mexico. Native themes abound, as do Hispanic and Anglo ones. Less obvious, perhaps is the Eagle grasping a snake in its talons, the symbol of Mexico. The coming of the railroads is shown as is the Rio Grande Rift Valley, the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, and so much more.
