The large cylindrical column of grey Marulan granite is near the Hankisson Fountain in the Memorial Gardens opposite the Narrandera Council Chambers. It is topped with a brass urn. From
The Sydney Morning Herald of 23 November, 1923:
"Major-General Sir Charles Rosenthal visited Narrandera on Wednesday and unveiled the monument erected by the citizens in honour of those who served in the great war. The monument is of Marulan granite, circular in shape, capped with a brass urn. The names of the 324 volunteers including two nurses and 105 names of soldiers who fell, are inscribed on the memorial." [courtesy Monuments Australia: Narrandera War Memorial]
On the bottom circular pink granite step is a bronze plaque inset at an angle, with the following text:
