A mother bear stands on a large tree stump, while two young cubs play below her. This is one of several carved wooden statues of wildlife near the entrance to the Douglas Fir Resort and Chalets on Banff’s Tunnel Mountain. A signature beneath the sow’s forepaws reads “Pete Ryan 2002”.

Pete Ryan (1950-2021) was a well-known chainsaw carver based in Hope, BC. (visit link)
