Long time ago this sandstone-lion was a part of the westgate from Lauenburg. The lion shows the emblem of the duchess Maria. When the gate knoked down, the lion survived. Today the lion decorates the little fountain at the Lauenburger market place. This fountain is called “Löwenbrunnen” and the nearby drugstore cares for it.
