The East side of the Bexar County Courthouse faces toward the San Antonio River and its River Walk. The North side faces toward the Canary Islanders sculpture and the Lady Liberty Fountain and sculpture. Walk around the NE corner of the courthouse and there is a stairway leading up and into the courthouse. On both sides of the stairway are sunken drainage areas along the building's outer wall. A large iron grate is laid across two red granite beams on the left of the stairway. The beam supporting the right edge of this large grate has the bench mark embedded in the middle portion of the span.
The round disk has two rows of text wrapped around the edge and the center space has the disk's elevation data and the disk's identification number. From the outer edge into the center, the disk reads as follows:
