Richard Edward Loyd was but fifty-one years of age at the time of his death, which was on Christmas Eve. His Woodmen of the World grave marker is styled as a vertical tree stump with cut branches, set on a base of two cut logs that are adorned with leaves and ivy. The inscription is:
