"The Eugenio Granell Foundation was created in 1995 by virtue of an agreement between the surrealist artist, Eugenio Granell, and Santiago City Council. Located in Pazo de Bendaña, in Plaza del Toral in the centre of Compostela, the Foundation houses a wide-ranging collection of works by the artist, his surrealist and ethnic collections and, as of 1997, the works donated by the English surrealist artist Philip West, who also bequeathed his collection of surrealist books.

Its main objective is to promote the study and dissemination of all of Granell's work, of surrealism and of similar tendencies. On the first floor of the Pazo, formed by three rooms, part of the Foundation's own collections are exhibited on a temporary basis. Due to a lack of space and the extensiveness of the Foundation's collections, it is not possible to exhibit all of them throughout the year.
The second floor has another three rooms used for temporary exhibitions. From the beginning we have been able to enjoy exhibitions by such important artists as Man Ray, Max Ernst, Esteban Francés, Gordon Onslow Ford, José Hernández and Galician artists such as Xesús Carballido and Paco Pestana.

Apart from this activity related strictly to the artistic world, the Foundation also has the goal of becoming a place of cultural creation and promotion. Therefore, by means of its education department, it organizes workshops, guided visits and children's activities. Its cultural department carries out another series of activities, including concerts, theatre, poetry recitals, conferences'

The Foundation has a shop and a library specialized in surrealism."
