En la fachada principal de la iglesia de Santiago podemos ver un escudo, al cual le falta la parte superior, que posiblemente sea la heráldica de la unión de las familias de Méndez de Sotomayor y Fernández de Córdoba.
Fué García Méndez de Sotomayor, el Comendador de la Orden de Santiago quien por decisión testamentaria en el año 1503 se empezó a construir esta iglesia sobre los cimientos de una sinagoga.
On the main façade of the church of Santiago we can see a shield, the upper part of which is missing, which is possibly the heraldry of the union of the families of Méndez de Sotomayor and Fernández de Córdoba.
It was García Méndez de Sotomayor, the Commander of the Order of Santiago who, by testamentary decision in the year 1503, began to build this church on the foundations of a synagogue.
