East Cesar E. Chavez Blvd. crosses over the San Antonio River in the King William Neighborhood where Pancoast Street forms a junction with Cesar E. Chavez Blvd. The artistic bench is facing toward E. Cesar E. Chaves Blvd, with the San Antonio River on its left side and Pancoast Street on its right side. Following Pancoast Street takes you farther into the neighborhood whereto street name changes to Washington Street after a short distance (one block) as Pancoast Street. Access to the San Antonio Riverwalk is available where East Cesar E. Chaves Blvd. crosses each side of the river. A rest on this bench after walking the Riverwalk and before you explore the King William area would be friendly to your feet and give you a needed rest from all the walking.
There is a round metal disk attached to the viewer's left side of the bench that states:
"Gift to the
neighborhood
from the
King William
Association
September
2012"
Another smalll metal plaque on the viewer's right side of the bench reads:
"Artist
Luis Chispas Guerrero
aychispasmetalart.com
James Wyatt Hendricks
wyatthendricks.com
(Salvaged metals from historic hays street bridge)"
The main metal pieces framing and supporting the seat and back parts of this bench came from the old railroad bridge on the edge of downtown that has now been repurposed as a pedestrian bridge on the East side of downtown. (See WMBRCQ for info about the Hays Street Bridge.) This bridge from which this benche is made is about 1.3 miles away to the NE "as the crow flies" but between 1.6 to 2.4 miles as a car would drive!
After resting on this repurposed bench, follow the pathway to the entrances onto the San Antonio Riverwalk paths which are on both sides of the San Antonio River.
Artist: Luis Chispas Guerrero and James Wyatt Hendricks
 Date Placed: 2012
