In 1997, when the town of Vysocany was about to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the village's elevation to a city, several smart minds gathered at the town hall and thought about what magnificent and dignified act they would use to commemorate this. They looked for inspiration in the chronicle of the city, where they found information that the meridian passes through Vysocany, which was previously used for accurate time determination. They decided to have a plaque made here with this theme.

However, the book from which the councilors drew their data was from the time when the meridian on the island of El Hierro was considered the prime meridian, and which, at the time of the discovery of the plaque, had not been used as the prime for more than 80 years. So on the plaque we find the coordinates that instead of Vysocany point much further to the east (to Ukraine).
