When the announcement for the building of Comerica Park for the Detroit Tigers to make their new home came in 1997 in downtown Detroit, Michigan, many buildings were going to have to be demolished to make room. Gem Theatre owner Charles Forbes had recently done a complete renovation of the Gem Theatre and did not want to see it all go to waste so he contracted The International Chimney Corporation (ICC) to move the entire 2,700 tone theatre 5 blocks to its new location(coordinates listed above). The record did not last long as ICC moved a 2908 ton building in Minneapolis the next year. The current world record is listed here at the Guinness site

The former location of the theatre became a parking lot for the baseball stadium.
