La obra expuesta en este museo dedicado a la cultura del olivar y a todos los trabajos relacionados con el campo montoreño se centra principalmente en una muestra de útiles que usaban y usan los trabajadores del mismo.
La importancia del aceite de oliva en Montoro hunde sus raíces en tiempos protohistóricos. No obstante, el verdadero auge del olivar montoreño tiene lugar en el siglo XVIII, momento en el que la productividad se incrementó de un modo considerable debido al aumento de las plantas de olivar en esta zona.
Prueba de ello son las numerosas peticiones de terreno boscoso y matorral bajo, documentos que se conservan en el Archivo Municipal de Montoro por parte de los vecinos del momento.
Podemos decirte que el territorio sembrado de olivar en aquella época fue más extenso que en la actualidad, ya que se cultivaron olivos en zonas donde hoy se encuentran pinares, encinas y monte bajo.
El aumento de la cantidad de aceituna hizo necesaria la creación de nuevos molinos, -que de igual forma te explicamos en la sección de Oleoturismo-. Es por ello que a partir de 1784 se comienzan a construir este tipo de fábricas en el término de Montoro.
En 1849, Pascual Madoz indicó en su obra que los olivares de Montoro son sin duda los más importantes de toda Andalucía, siendo muy citado y confirmado por numerosos autores del momento.
Hoy en día, Montoro despunta como uno de los más importantes núcleos dedicado al cultivo del olivar de renombre internacional".
