"Guadix está de enhorabuena y ofrece un atractivo turístico más a su larga lista de patrimonio artístico y cultural: la visita a la torre campanario de su Catedral, el mirador más alto de la ciudad.

La visita, abierta al público por primera vez tras su restauración, comienza a los pies de las escaleras de acceso con la primera de las sorpresas: la escalera de doble hélice ideada por el artista italiano Leonardo Da Vinci. 79 escalones después, y tras subir los 54 escalones del segundo tramo, el visitante tiene una nueva recompensa: la casa del campanero. Accediendo a un tercer tramo de escaleras se completa el total de 160 peldaños que nos llevan al cuerpo de campanas – trece en total- que sorprenden por su dimensión y que marcan el ritmo de Guadix desde hace siglos.
Sus vistas de 360 grados y su balcón volado perimetral hacen única la visita. El visitante puede admirar a más de 30 metros de altura la amplia historia de la ciudad, cruce de civilizaciones, a través de sus numerosos monumentos: Alcazaba, catedral, teatro romano, sus iglesias o sus numerosos palacios, e incluso el Castillo de la Calahorra a lo lejos dominando el Marquesado del Zenete.
