Ocupa 2,5 km de largo y 50 metros de ancho, entre el Cap de ses Penyes, al este, y la Punta Rodona, a poniente. Es de clara y fina arena con una suave pendiente hasta aguas limpias y cristalinas del Mediterráneo y, desde la orilla, se puede ver el Escull de sa Galera, un peñasco que se alza suavemente sobre el mar.
En la parte más oriental las paredes rocosas alcanzan entre 70 y 80 metros de altura. La zona occidental, más suave, tiene acantilados menores, entre 5 y 10 metros de alto, y la playa de Atalis, pequeña cala virgen y tranquila donde se puede practicar el nudismo.
Son Bou cuenta con certificaciones europeas de calidad y una Bandera Azul que confirma que cumple con las normas de calidad del agua, de seguridad, la prestación de servicios generales para los usuarios y la conservación del medio ambiente.
El fondo marino de Son Bou es arenoso y muy homogéneo con una suave pendiente que permite que te adentres poco a poco. Cuando la profundidad es ya de unos metros la arena acoge una de las más extensas praderas de posidonia oceánica, una planta marina indicadora de la excelente calidad del agua, aporta oxígeno y es el hábitat de muchas especies marinas.
La zona dunar que separa la playa del Prat de Son Bou se mantiene en muy buen estado. Es paralela a la línea del mar y forma montañas de arena que no superan los dos metros de altura y que acogen flora autóctona y característica de estos lugares.
It occupies 2.5 km long and 50 meters wide, between Cap de ses Penyes, to the east, and Punta Rodona, to the west. It has clear, fine sand with a gentle slope to the clean, crystalline waters of the Mediterranean and, from the shore, you can see the Escull de sa Galera, a rock that rises gently above the sea.
In the easternmost part the rock walls reach between 70 and 80 meters high. The western area, gentler, has smaller cliffs, between 5 and 10 meters high, and Atalis beach, a small virgin and quiet cove where you can practice nudism.
Son Bou has European quality certifications and a Blue Flag that confirms that it complies with the standards of water quality, safety, the provision of general services for users and environmental conservation.
The seabed of Son Bou is sandy and very homogeneous with a gentle slope that allows you to enter little by little. When the depth is a few meters, the sand hosts one of the most extensive meadows of Posidonia oceanica, a marine plant that indicates the excellent quality of the water, provides oxygen and is the habitat of many marine species.
The dune area that separates Prat beach from Son Bou is maintained in very good condition. It is parallel to the sea line and forms sand mountains that do not exceed two meters in height and that host native flora characteristic of these places.
