The library opend in 1999 and was named after the French singer-songwriter and poete Georges Brassens.
But it had a predecessor. The bibliothèque Maine was located just a block away and was open from 1935 until 1998.

Mais elle a eu un prédécesseur. La bibliothèque Maine était située à un pâté de maisons et a été ouverte de 1935 à 1998.
