The Freure family started in Canada when Feliz Freure Sr and his brother Augustus immigrated from Suffolk England.
They came to Canada to "spy out the land" in 1832 and were followed a year later by their parents and the balance of the family. The two sons purchased 100 acres of land, lot 29 Concession 3 in Eramosa and commenced to the active life of home-making in the bush.
Augustus Freure married Martha Breese and it is his family that settled and farmed this land into the next century and beyond.
