A specially-constructed elevated lookout platform (belvedere) at the south end of Bowmont Park gives a view over the Bow River valley and the city of Calgary. Although the platform itself is no more than two meters (6 feet) above the ground, it is near the top of the Bow River escarpment, giving excellent views of the river valley 40 meters (125 feet) below.
The platform is next to a busy paved walking and cycling pathway along the top of the escarpment. It’s a safe place for pathway users to enjoy the view without blocking the path or risking a fall down the steep slope. It is one of three similar platforms along this section of pathway, and is the one that is closest to parking.
