In the harbor area of Lappeenranta there is a sandcastle festival every summer. In 2023, the festival takes place 3 June – 27 August 2023. Depending on how much it rains, the sculptures will be visible long after the festival ends.
Every year there is a new theme and in 2023 the theme is "Fairytales." And there are certainly many fun characters built. These are made by artists from Finland, Russia, Hungary, Poland, Bulgaria, Latvia and the Netherlands.
