In 1910, this snooker parlour was built by “Doc” Mendenhall and Robert Hatfield in the village of Barons in southern Alberta. It was moved to Calgary's Heritage Park Historical Village in 1969: tables, cues, balls, and all! Like many other Alberta pool halls of the time, it was also a barber shop, with just one chair.
After several months of restoration, and the acquisition of an appropriate antique barber’s chair, Heritage Park opened the three-table snooker parlour to the public in June 1970. The ceremonial first game was between the building’s donor, Reg F. Jennings, and Mervin “Red” Dutton. (
